Ordered insurance tried to scam me

Ordered insurance on phone. Got quote and i said fine. A few days later they email me and say i have to put a tracking device on my car. I said no way. The quote didnt say this. I told them to cancel the policy b4 it starts in 2 weeks and not to send the item. They told me insurance would be 10 percent more without it and i would have to return the tracker or i would be charged 50 dollars. What a bunch of scammers. Im not wasting my time to send something back that i didnt agree to or order.

Filled a home fire clam

After death of my mother, late fees of $10 per month accumulated on a $33 bill for a policy change which was unclear to me. I had just taken over her finances and it took time to transition accounts. I asked them to waive fees given the circumstances and the agent was like a robot. "I can only give you $10 one time courtesy." I had to insist that he check with an underwriter to waive the fee. He did and the underwriter then said ... No. They will NEVER receive future business from anyone I know. In these circumstances, most reasonable companies provide relief, but it seems clear this is a steady revenue stream for them, and they don't care about the customer.

They was suppose to pay off my truck after their client had totalled it and they did with a long delay and lowered my credit score. Found this out while trying to buy a new car. I was very upset and have chest pains from the stress and emotionally unstable. The claims adjuster said he was on vacation which delayed the payment even more a d told me my insurance company should pay although their client was in the wrong and cited for the accident she caused. I am suing this insurance company for delayed responses which hurt my credit and now i am in emational distress.

Wasn't told i would be billed in one lump sum. Received a notice that on 01/09 my policy would be cancelled for non payment. They cancelled on sunday the 7th. Single father of 3 with no home insurance because of this. Bank is on my tail now. Thanks state auto

They do not call people back and try to lie about coverage

son was in SA insured persons truck,bad wreck son has $20,000 in med bills,they are trying to tell him not enough coverage but minimal law in our state is $25,000 per person per injury .three young men are now stuck with big medical bills.thanks SA you suck. they have dodged calls now our adjuster has not been there for 3 weeks,and cannot reach her manager,they play a good game but have bad customer relations,with that being said we have spoke to a lawyer about the situation and says they will pay in the end we will have to go to the courts

State Auto Premium Scam

Paid my six month premium for six cars. Sold two cars before next premium payment was due. Rather than disburse refund checks at the time I sold the two cars they credited me. When next six month premium became due they applied the credit toward the same premium rate for six cars (rather than the four that were still insured). Needless to say I moved my business away from their agent and state auto.

State Auto Insurance Scam

My family members were involved in a collision while sitting in traffic (not moving), State Auto Insured rear ended them. This caused them to hit the vehicle in front of them also stopped and not moving, which in turn caused that vehicle to slam into the vehicle in front of that person.

In total 2 vehicle were totaled by their insured and one damaged (not counting the vehicle of their insured). 3 individuals were carted off to the hospital with injuries. State Auto refused rental car and liability. They really need to educate their adjusters as to the state law in the state in which these accidents occur.

In my family members case the passenger can not be held liable in anyway, they are considered as innocent as a baby! Bad company willing to do anything to keep from paying claims.

Oh and by the way, 3rd party claims can leave their own insured's opened to a law suit which could end up exceeding their policy limits! This shows me they don't even care if they hurt their own insured to save themselves money.

I failed to mention that could easily resolve claims such as this, in which they are placing liability on the vehicle which was sitting still. It is called a black box, you know, like the one in airplanes.

Yes, I am sure that they are aware of the box which can tell them if the vehicle was moving 5 seconds before the impact.

Oh, but this would quickly determine the liability and why would they want to do determine liability? After all, then they would have to pay a claim and do the right thing for all involved including their own insured!

Daughter hit by State auto insured

Daughter at stop sign, hit by SA insured!! accident on Jan.

11 and still nothing. Stephen Dahl with state auto is dodging every chance he gets, keeps coming up with excuses. Need a rental for my daughter to get back and forth from school and work. First he said that the insuree had to accept liability?

( yeah i know. right!!!!) they had 30 days to accept then go on to the next stage ( of lack of help ). who knows what that is! I have to chase them down to get answers and then they pass the buck to a different dept.?

I have done what he has asked right away and sent copies of police report, emailed pics of daughters car, etc. still nothing and that was within a week of the accident. STATE AUTO has horrible CUSTOMERS SERVICE AND IT IS THE WORST I HAVE EVER SEEN AND I HAVE BEEN AROUND A WHILE !!!!!!!!!!! I am in the process of a lawsuit and if the claim does not get resolved in a timely manner then i will forge ahead with my suit!!!

My advise (((((((((((((( DO NOT USE STATE AUTO )))))))))))))!!!!!!!!!!! I think the next step is the BBB and report them, maybe this will help with getting something done.

You are complaining about something that is almost standard in the industry. State Auto is not your insuring company they are the other driver's and are not bound by many laws to settle your claim quickly.

If you want that done without involving your own insurer, then you need to make the repairs out of your pocket and wait like many others for a settlement. It sucks, but it is the way most things work nowadays.

OMG!

These people are awful! If your payment is due on the 20th of the month, and you make your payment on THEIR website on the 20th of the month, you will get a notice of cancellation on the 21st. If you make your payment early, for evermore, that will be your new due date.

One time they cancelled our insurance never notified us, because of the same thing I talked about above, we kept making our payments, and found out 6 MONTHS later, through a fluk, no accidents, we were uninsured! I had to pull the payment history from our bank, and submitted it to State Auto to prove we had made the payments on time. They sent us ALL 6 months of our payments back!

If this is how they handle payments, I'm afraid to think how they would handle a claim.

I am reaching out to all those who have had to deal with this company which is dealing with people in bad faith. Strength in numbers.

They have denied liability for a crash in which their insured hit a car sitting in traffic, totaled that car, the car in front of it was totaled, and the vehicle in front of it was damaged.

In total 3 vehicles were damaged by their insured and 3 people had to be carted off to the hospital. How can this continue to go on without us banding together to put a stop to this deceptive business practice?

We're leaving them and going to USAA, which is over 100.00 less expensive a monthat with the better coverage.

I think a mass exodus is in order.

Had a wreck over a week ago and my adjuster has yet to contact me. I have been doing all the contacting and was just told that she has not accepted liability for the wreck when her client was at fault and was ticketed. I am So pissed. I've lost work, driving in a wrecked vehicle. My dealership is ready to fix car however state auto won't pay for rental yet until I receive. Quote... so I'm supposed to miss 2 more days of work when they were at fault. Not sure what they want the quote to read but I'm not taking my car anywhere but the chevy dealership for repair. Don't ever get State Auto insurance!!! Or get hit by someone who has this *** insurance.

I have Received a Letter in the Mail from State Auto with a Cheaper Quote on Automobile Insurance and NOW after reading this I have Decided to Stay With My Same Company i have been with.

It Might be Higher but at Least I know I am Properly Protected & They Pay the Claim off in just a Couple of Days! Tanks Again!!

My house burned down but do you think I got any help from state auto. No all I got was sorry you've always paid your premiums. But we are not going to pay you anything. I lost everything because the the insurance agent said I was covered and took my money. So this company will be glad to take your money and not hold up there part in the end.

They did the same thing to me. Avoided me for a week and a half.

By time they accepted liability I had to start paying for my rental on my own as they would not pay for it after 30 days. I have been in a few wrecks during my life and I have never come across a more unprofessional insurance company. Beware of this company...

don't let them push you around and make sure you hire an attorney if they try to take advantage of you. This is what I had to do in order to be treated fairly.

I would like to contact anyone who has had this same problem, my family members were sitting in traffic when a State Auto Insured rear ended them, totaling my family members car and injuring both family members. The car (of family member) was pushed into the car in front of it totaling that car (injuries in that car as well), Pushing that car into a truck in front of it causing damage to that vehicle as well.

State Auto is denying liability. They even sent a letter of denial to the nearly 80 year old passenger (relative) who was injured. Not legal in the State I live in.

According to our State Law this 80 year old could have not liability. They clearly need to train their adjusters and educate them about the state law where the accident occurred.

i was also hit by one of their clients and state auto blamed me 100% to avoid paying anything. I made sure that my insurance did not give them anything. Hate this State Auto.

Same thing just happened to my family members, as well as the two vehicles in front of them. Please read my post, would love to speak to you.

This needs to stop and if enough of us band together we might get results. I for one will haunt them till I see that they are doing the right thing to injured parties.
